About this tool
“Average” can mean several things, and this calculator gives you all of them at once. Paste a list of numbers and it returns the mean, the median and the mode, along with the range, sum and count.
Each measure tells a different story: the mean is sensitive to outliers, the median shows the middle, and the mode highlights what’s most common. Seeing them together gives a fuller picture of your data. The numbers never leave your browser.
Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between mean, median and mode?
The mean is the total divided by the count, the median is the middle value when sorted, and the mode is the most frequent value.
What if there's no repeated value?
Then there's no mode, and the tool shows a dash. If several values tie for most frequent, all of them are listed.
