About this tool
Adding up hours worked across a shift, then knocking off the lunch break, is fiddly to do in your head. This calculator takes your start and end times, subtracts an unpaid break, and gives the result in hours and minutes and as decimal hours.
Enter an hourly rate and it also works out your gross pay for the shift. It handles overnight shifts automatically, making it handy for timesheets and casual work. The figures are pre-tax, and everything runs in your browser.
Frequently asked questions
Does it handle overnight shifts?
Yes. If the end time is earlier than the start, it assumes the shift runs past midnight.
How is pay calculated?
Worked hours (after the break) are multiplied by your hourly rate, giving gross pay before tax and deductions.
